A proposed vertiport for Harlem — a place where electric aircraft take off and land, built with the community in it from the start.
Privately financed. No taxpayer money. Proposed by Carlos Martins, founder of Space Racer LLC.
The Harlem Skyport is a proposed vertiport — a small, purpose-built facility where electric aircraft land and take off straight up and down, the way a helicopter does, but quieter and cleaner. It would serve electric air taxis and emergency air services.
Nothing flies until it is fully approved. The Skyport starts small and grows in phases, as approved aircraft actually arrive — not before.
The Skyport is proposed for the Manhattanville area of Harlem, on land that stays the landowner's. The structure is a long-term ground lease:
The facility would carry the Space Racer name, and the founder's share is written into the agreement from the start — not added as an afterthought.
This is not just a landing pad with a fence around it. The community piece is built into the project itself:
The project's education piece includes the Dollar Discovery Project — a financial-literacy program for grades 1–12, with a Spanish edition in development.
October 2026. The Harlem Skyport is at the proposal stage. It has not been approved, permitted, or agreed to by anyone — this page describes a proposal, plainly.
The founder is in conversation with the landowner's real estate office about the site. Community and stakeholder outreach is under way across Harlem — to the community board, local elected officials, and Harlem organizations. Outreach to electric aircraft makers is also under way.
The ask is simple: one meeting with everybody involved in one room, and a walk-through of the site — so everyone hears the same presentation once and can weigh in with the full picture in front of them.
